This Privacy Policy describes how the Perfume Checker iPad app (“the App”) handles your information.
Your inventory, formulas, shopping list, and Anthropic / OpenAI API keys are stored locally on your device. API keys are stored in the iOS Keychain. Provider preferences (which AI to use, fast or balanced model) are stored in standard iOS preferences.
If you are signed into iCloud, the app uses Apple's standard iCloud (CloudKit) service to sync your inventory, formulas, and shopping list across devices that you sign into with the same Apple ID. This data is stored in your private iCloud container and is not visible to anyone else. We do not have access to it. Apple's privacy policy applies: apple.com/legal/privacy.
When you run a “Formula Check”, the ingredients in the formula and the names of the ingredients in your inventory are sent directly from your device to either Anthropic (Claude) or OpenAI, depending on which provider you have configured. The request is sent over HTTPS using the API key you provided.
We do not proxy, log, or store these requests. The data sent is governed by the privacy policy of the provider you chose:
The app does not include any third-party analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or tracking. No usage data leaves your device except (a) the iCloud sync described above and (b) the AI requests you initiate yourself.
CSV / PDF / XLSX files you import are read locally for processing. We do not upload them anywhere except, as part of a Formula Check that you trigger, the parsed list of ingredients to your chosen AI provider.
The app is not directed at children under 13.
