Privacy Policy

Pomelo is a currency converter app. This document describes what data the app does — and does not — collect.

Short version

• Pomelo itself does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data.
• No accounts, no analytics, no tracking across other apps.
• Pomelo displays a single banner ad via Google AdMob, in non-personalised mode — your IDFA is never used and the App Tracking Transparency prompt is never shown.
• The only Pomelo network call is to a public exchange-rate API to fetch daily currency rates.

What stays on your device

The following preferences are stored locally on your device only, using the operating system's standard app storage. They never leave your device:

• Your selected currency pair (e.g. EUR → USD)
• Your selected theme
• Your list of favourite currencies
• Whether haptic feedback is enabled
• A cached copy of the daily exchange-rate table

If you delete the app, this data is removed with it.

What is sent over the network by Pomelo

Once per day (or when first launched, or when stale), Pomelo makes a single request to:

https://open.er-api.com/v6/latest/USD

This is the public ExchangeRate-API endpoint. The request sends nothing about you — no account, no device identifier, no location. It simply asks for the latest USD-based exchange rates and receives a list back. The response is cached on your device so the request only happens at most once every 24 hours.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

Pomelo displays a single banner ad pinned to the bottom of the converter screen. The ad is served by Google AdMob.

• Non-personalised mode only. Google serves contextual ads based on coarse signals (your country, the app you're in) rather than a profile of you.
• No App Tracking Transparency prompt. Your IDFA is not used by Pomelo for tracking.
• Google may still collect data necessary to serve and measure the ad: IP address, device type, app version, and a per-device anonymous identifier (IDFV). What Google does with that is governed by their own policy:

• Google's Privacy Policy: policies.google.com/privacy
• How Google uses information from sites that use their services: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites

Third-party services

• ExchangeRate-API — public exchange-rate data, no identifying information sent.
• Google AdMob — banner advertising, non-personalised mode.

That's it. Pomelo includes no analytics SDK, no crash-reporting service, and no other third-party tracking.

Children

Pomelo does not knowingly target or collect data from children under 13.

Permissions

Pomelo does not request any of the following: location, contacts, photos, camera, microphone, App Tracking Transparency, notifications, or background activity.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in the future, the updated version will be published at the same URL where you are currently reading it, and the "Last updated" date above will change.
